WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAU) - Wausau officials are attempting to reach an agreement that would bring an established business to the West Business Center, and hire several new employees.
Community Development Director Ann Werth says there is a meeting Thursday with the city’s Economic Development Committee to discuss the possibilities. “The development team for the City of Wausau met with a company by the name of Southern Stretch Forms that is looking at locating here in Wausau, Wisconsin. They currently have facilities in Texas, California, and Pennsylvania. They would do an alliance agreement with Linetech, which is a company located in the Wausau Business Campus.”
Should all of the parties reach an agreement, Werth says it would be a positive thing for the city and at least two area businesses. “What we see coming with this is a new company in our Wausau Business Campus that will create jobs, that are living wage jobs, and also create jobs with Linetech as well as some other companies as this grows.”
The Economic Development Committee meets at 4:30 p.m. Thursday at City Hall. Much of that meeting is in closed session for negotiating purposes. It is possible the committee will take action after the closed session and refer a proposal to the City Council.
