WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAU) - Marathon County’s Sheriff’s Department has selected their new jail administrator. Sheriff Scott Parks says that after a nationwide search, their top candidate wasn’t very far away. She is Sandra La Du-Ives, who is leaving the identical position in Oneida County.
As a jail administrator, La Du-Ives will oversee the day-to-day corrections activities and handle several important law enforcement and management duties.
Candidates applying for the position went through several levels of interviews, background checks, management assessments, and psychological testing. Sheriff Parks has already met with La Du-Ives to tour the facility and discuss the issues and the changes already underway.
Paul Mergendahl from the juvenile detention facility has been the interim administrator at the Marathon County Jail. Mergendahl took over when Robert Dickman resigned April 18th, 26 days after former sheriff Randy Hoenisch resigned on March 23rd and just 22 days after corrections officer Julie Christiansen was critically injured in an attack by an inmate March 27th.
