Senate Passes Bipartisan Deal

WASHINGTON D. C. (WHTC) -- The last minute effort to raise the debt ceiling and end the government shutdown is in the Republican-controlled House.  The bipartisan deal passed the Senate by a vote of 81-18.  Speaker John Boehner said House Republicans would not try to the block the deal.  Terms of the deal include funding government operations through mid-January and boosting the debt limit into early February.  Congressman Fred Upton said, quote, ““Now it is time to put Humpty Dumpty back together again and turn away from the government dysfunction that has crippled our country,” and “There are plenty of issues like the Farm Bill, immigration, energy independence, and the new health care law that need constructive attention rather than inaction.”
