WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAU) - A former coach convicted of a sex crime will have to wait to learn his sentence. 56-year-old Rory McKellips was supposed to be sentenced October 25th for using a computer to facilitate a sex crime with a former student he used to coach in the Athens basketball program. The court agreed to postpone that sentencing until immediately after the upcoming jury trial for perjury charges.
The perjury trial is scheduled to start November 18th. Both McKellips and his wife Constance are accused of providing false information to the court in the June trial, which led to the new charges.
Attorneys also requested a change of venue for both Mr. and Mrs. McKellips, but the court turned that request down. Expect a pool of 75 Marathon County jurors to be called upon for the McKellips perjury trial.
