MARSHFIELD, Wis (WSAU) A four-month investigation into abuse of a developmentally disabled teenager is complete. The report recommends charges against the leader of a group home for coverage up physical abuse.
The case started in July when the victims mother filed a complaint. Her son was a patient at River City Estates. She said he had a black eye, and bruises on his arms and upper body.
Staff at the group home say the victim had the tendency to slap himself. The investigation concluded the injuries were not self-inflicted.
41-year-old Brent Diercks, a former employee, has been charged with patient abuse. The report also says the group home likely falsified an earlier report, where they claimed the victim fell down the stairs.
