PLOVER, Wis. (WSAU) - A Plover man is in jail after trying to kill his girlfriend.

33-year-old Jason Hyatt is being held on a $250,000 cash bond after allegedly trying to kill his girlfriend Sunday morning with a baseball bat. Hyatt was waiting inside his Mission Lane home when the 31-year-old victim arrived. Police say Hyatt swung a baseball bat at her, striking her several times as he proclaimed he was going to kill her. Hyatt then tied the victim to a towel rack and tried to force her to swallow pills. The victim escaped the knots and ran next door for help after Hyatt fell asleep.

The woman was treated at St. Michael’s Hospital for her injuries and released. Hyatt will be back in court Oct. 21.
