STEVENS POINT, Wis. - Mitch Beau accounted for five touchdowns to lead the UW-Stevens Point football team to a convincing 47-14 win over Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) foe UW-River Falls in the homecoming game for the Pointers on Saturday afternoon at Community Stadium at Goerke Park. The senior quarterback threw for 235 yards and ran for 53 yards in the game for the Pointers (3-1, 1-0 WIAC). His touchdown passes went to Matt Sosinsky, Andy Kros and Andre Bodden. UW-Stevens Point scored two touchdowns in the first four minutes of the game and never looked back to win their WIAC opener over the Falcons (0-4, 0-1 WIAC). Beau's one-yard quarterback sneak opened the scoring at the 11:49 mark of the first quarter to make the score 6-0 after a failed two-point conversion. Just 47 seconds later, Beau found Sosinsky for a 55-yard touchdown to quickly make it 13-0. Kros and Beau connected for an 11-yard touchdown strike early in the second quarter to extend the lead to 19-0 after another failed two-point conversion. UWRF got on the board just before halftime to cut it to 19-7. From there, the Pointers scored four consecutive touchdowns to bust the game wide open. In the third quarter, Ian Neville scored on a four-yard run before Beau took off on a 56-yard quarterback keeper for his second touchdown of the game on the ground. Beau's fifth touchdown of the day came on a 38-yard pass to Bodden early in the fourth quarter. Robert Ciepiewskithen came on for Beau and Jared Pankow made a highlight-reel catch in the corner of the end zoe on Cieplewski's throw to make it 47-7. Phillip Martola capped the scoring on the day for UWRF with 8:07 to go. The Pointers outgained the Falcons more than two-to-one on the day by racking up 416 total yards. The UWSP defense limited UWRF to 199 yards and forced three turnovers. For the first time this season, UWSP did not commit a turnover.  Matt Gaffney led the UW-Stevens Point defense with 4.5 tackles, two sacks, and a forced fumble. Bo Siebel  and Mitch Kelty each picked off passes and Cody Siebel recovered the fumble caused by Gaffney. The Falcons were only 4-for-16 on third down and failed on both their fourth down conversion attempts. The Pointers travel to UW-Eau Claire on Saturday for a WIAC game at 1 pm.
