ST. PAUL, MN (WSAU) - Now that the Jeffrey Trevino trial is over in St. Paul Minnesota, many people in central Wisconsin hope to bring closure and begin healing after the death of Kira Steger.

For friends and family members, it’s been an agonizing 225 days since Kira Steger went missing, and 149 days since her body was found in the Mississippi River. After yesterday’s verdict, Kira’s mother Marcie Steger said they can finally give their daughter and sister a proper memorial service.  "We've made tentative plans, so now that we actually have the verdict, we can proceed with those, and it will be so nice to at least have her home."

Kira Steger graduated from D.C. Everest High School in 2001, but the family has since moved to the Marshfield area. The Stegers haven’t announced what those tentative memorial service plans are yet.

The Steger family couldn’t proceed earlier with a memorial service, because Kira Steger’s remains and belongings were held as evidence for Jeffrey Trevino’s trial.
