UPDATE: Woman's death investigation continues, autopsy Friday

by

Galloway, Wis. (WSAU) -- Marathon County Sheriff’s detectives are investigating the death of a woman found early Thursday morning near Galloway in the Town of Franzen.

Sheriff’s Department Captain Greg Bean says their department received a 9-1-1 call at 3:51 a.m. reporting a deceased 43-year-old female in a semi truck parked next to Jen and Tonic’s Bar on Highway 49.

Bean says they do not suspect any foul play. “There was a driver of the truck. He has already been questioned, and again, that’s part of the reason we’re determining that there’s no foul play suspected at this point of the investigation.”

The driver of the truck is a man from the Galloway area. He discovered the woman had died in the sleeper bunk after he parked the truck very early Thursday morning.

Captain Bean says they don’t know exactly why the woman died, and they have called State Crime Lab investigators to help find those answers. An autopsy is being performed in Madison Friday.

Investigators were at the scene all day Thursday. Bean says the woman is not from the immediate area. Her identity will be released after family members have been notified.
