TOMAHAWK, Wis. (WXPR) -- Saying he's the eyes and ears in this region for the state DNR Secretary, the Northern Region Director held office hours in Tomahawk Wednesday. He says they will be doing more of this type of interaction with the public.

John Gozdzialski met with the public at Tomahawk city hall. He says city of Tomahawk officials talked about what they needed in upcoming projects, but also heard from other members of the public. "Ranging from lake issues, and we heard about that today, lake district formation to some of the predator problems with the deer herd up here, to recreational trails. So it was a great opportunity to interact with our constituency. Had a chance to talk to the (Tomahawk) mayor and the Director of Public Works as well."

On the eve of the deer hunt, he says enjoy one of Wisconsin's great traditions. "And what I would ask, and wish, for all of our deer hunters, whether they're the residents or visitors is have a good and enjoyable time, build those traditions. Enjoy that time with family and the great outdoors. Be safe, and don't forget about bringing the kids into the hunt."

Gozdzialski says the public office hours are designed to give the public more access to DNR officials.
