Gabriel Campos gets life with possibility of parole for the murder of Maisie McCullough

WISCONSIN RAPIDS, Wis. (WSAU) -- A Marshfield man convicted in the death of his girlfriend will spend at least the next 40 years in prison.

A judge sentenced Gabriel Campos to life in prison with the possibility of parole today in Wood County court.

The 21-year-old Campos was found guilty of stabbing and slitting the throat of his girlfriend Maisie McCullough, who was 19 at the time. He was also charged with attempting to hire a Wood County jail inmate to murder McCullough’s new boyfriend by offering him cash, a car, and an assault rifle. Those charges were dropped as part of a plea deal with prosecutors.

Campos and McCullough were once engaged, and have a son who is now three.
