WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAU) -- More room, more access and more pumps are set to open at the new Kwik Trip location on Kent Street in Wausau.
The store will replace the location on Grand Avenue. Spokesman Steve Wrobel says they've designed the station to try and cut down on noise. "I know that our store engineering people look carefully at the location with the intention of being a good neighbour, a good citizen for the people of Wausau. That's certainly been part of the plan all along."
The location is a compromise after years of proposed expansion at the Grand Avenue location. The new store will offer more room to maneuver in and out, and will move the store to a business/industrial zone as well.
The new store has been improved in construction as well, using greener technologies in order to save on energy costs. Wrobel says they're installing an E-85 gas pump for low emission vehicles. "Wherever the market dictates, it's not 100% that we put E-85, but where we know there will be a demand for it, we add it where possible."
Wrobel says they'll be doing a quick turnaround between the old store and the new store. "The Actual opening date will be Wednesday the 13th at 5 am. The old store will close on Tuesday the 12th at 7 pm. So we want there to be as little interruption in service as possible." A ribbon cutting and grand opening event is scheduled for next week.
