Inmate sentenced to six additional years for trying to get woman to miscarry

MARSHFIELD, WI (WTAQ) - A Marshfield man has been sentenced to six years in prison for tossing gasoline on a pregnant woman, and punching her in the stomach to try and get her to miscarry.

24-year-old Tyler Ress is already at the state prison in Waupun on an unrelated conviction. His new term will begin when his old one finishes in two to three years.

Also, he has to spend 4 years under extended supervision when he's no longer behind bars.

Prosecutors said Ress held a lighter near the woman, threatening to set her on fire.

He was convicted in plea deal on Wood County charges that included reckless endangerment, false imprisonment, and strangulation and suffocation, and attempted abortion.
