APPLETON, WI (WTAQ) - Executives in Fond du Lac, Outagamie and Winnebago Counties have sent a letter to Governor Walker requesting a three month delay in new BadgerCare eligibility requirements.
Walker made changes that would force an estimated 90,000 low-income people off of the state's Medicaid health insurance program after the first of the year.
Enrollees who make more than 100 percent above the federal poverty line would lose coverage January first.
The change opened up the program for around 88,000 childless adults.
Walker says those being dropped would qualify for the Affordable Care Act’s subsidies to buy private insurance through the healthcare.gov website.
County executives argue that with the website having problems they are requesting the delay.
Walker has said he will review the situation if the website is not fixed by the end of November as the Obama administration has said.
