WASHINGTON, D.C. (WSAU) - Wisconsin’s 7th District Congressman is urging Secretary of State John Kerry to address issues of religious freedom and tolerance on his surprise trip to Egypt.
Sean Duffy says the religious freedom and tolerance must continue to be a pillar of our foreign policy, and recent reports from Egypt and Syria about abuses have him and others concerned. “The U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedoms has already named Egypt as a country of particular concern for religious freedom violations, and I call on every member of the house to stand up on those attacking Christians around the world. It’s our duty to stand with those that are being abused.”
Duffy has authored a letter to Secretary Kerry, with seventeen co-signers seeking the Secretary of State to address religious freedom concerns in the middle east.
The Wisconsin Congressman is also criticizing an October bailout of the Federal Housing Administration. Duffy says while most of us were preoccupied with the problems rolling out healthcare.org, taxpayers were put on the hook for one-point-seven billion dollars to meet FHA’s shortfall with no plans to pay it back.
