GRAND CHUTE, WI (LEARFIELD-WSAU) Linfield of Oregon won its first N-C-A-A Division-Three baseball title with a 4-to-1 victory over Southern Maine yesterday at Fox Cities Stadium near Appleton.

Chris Haddeland pitched a complete game for his school-record 15th win of the season. He gave up a run on eight hits, with three walks and five strikeouts. Linfield won the game with a four-run rally in the fourth inning. A squeeze bunt from Kyle Chamberlain brought home the winning run.

Linfield finished at 42-and-8, with its first national baseball crown since 1971 when it was in the N-A-I-A. Ithaca took third place, after losing to Southern Maine earlier yesterday by a 5-to-4 verdict in 13 innings. U-W Stevens Point placed fourth, after being eliminated on Sunday.
