Whether it was Taylor Swift winning a bunch of awards or Justin Bieber pleading his case to be taken seriously as an artist, the Billboard Music Awards received a boost in ratings from the year before.
The three-hour ABC telecast, hosted in Las Vegas by former 30 Rock star Tracy Morgan , averaged 9.5 million viewers on Sunday night, according to Deadline . That’s a 28-percent increase from the 2012 ceremony.
Taylor was the big winner, taking eight awards including Artist of the Year, while her latest release, RED , took Top Billboard 200 Album honors. Kacey Musgraves and The Band Perry also performed on the three-hour show.
