MADISON, WI (WSAU) -  About 90 activists are planning to spend the weekend in the woods brushing up on their skills. They’re not working on their camping, fishing, or survivalist skills. They are learning what they call, “peaceful resistance techniques.”

It’s called Action Camp, and the participants will cover what they call direct-action training, anti=oppressions training, blockades, and they will practice their tree climbing skills to prevent Gogebic Taconite from doing work at the site before any potential mining.

The participants will be taught about protesters rights. They will also hear a presentation from the Bad River Band of Lake Superior Chippewa, who also oppose the mine.

The group has not disclosed the exact location of the training, except to say it’s about one hour north of Wausau on their website.
