Judge to decide on trial for triple murder suspect Jaren Kuester

DARLINGTON, WI (WTAQ) - A judge in Darlington will decide Monday afternoon if there’s enough evidence to order a trial for Jaren Kuester.

He’s the Milwaukee man charged with breaking into a farmhouse, killing three elderly people with a fireplace poker, and then stealing a victim’s pick-up truck.

Dean, Gary, and Chloe Thoreson were killed near South Wayne April 27th. That was two days after he allegedly caused a disturbance at a Waukesha animal shelter, and was jailed for not paying a nine-year-old fine.

His father says the 31-year-old Kuester is delusional. A defense lawyer says he’s evaluating Kuester’s mental state, and use of medicines. An insanity plea is possible.

For now, Kuester is in the Lafayette County jail under a $3 million bond.
