MOSINEE, WI (WSAU) -  The 12th Honor Flight will leave Central Wisconsin Airport bright and early Monday morning. Organizer Jim Campbell says this particular flight has a few less World War II vets than the last one. “This flight is predominantly Korean veterans. The last four or so have been a mixture of World War II and Korean veterans.”

Campbell says veterans are still signing up for future flights, and that’s a good thing. “They’re still signing up on a regular basis. We have about the next three flights filled.” Whenever a World War II veteran or a terminally ill veteran signs up, they go to the front of the line so they have a better chance of getting to see their memorial before it’s too late.

The local Honor Flight chapter based in Wausau serves veterans from 12 northern and northwestern Wisconsin counties, and has taken 1,130 service men and women from this region to see their memorials, historic buildings, and Arlington National Cemetery.

There are two more Honor Flights scheduled this year in the fall, and then two more scheduled for the spring of 2014. More will be added as necessary.
