MADISON, Wis (WSAU)  - The Wisconsin State Supreme Court upheld Act 10, the state law that limits the collective bargaining rights of state employees. New Marshfield board has old problem to clean up

MARSHFIELD, WI (WSAU) - Marshfield’s School Board has new officers after this week’s organizational meeting, and a mess to clean up after the recent overpayment error to the school district’s superintendent.

Marshfield’s Superintendent Peg Geegan was hired in 2011, and was to be paid 130-thousand dollars annually. It was discovered that Geegan was overpaid by 17-thousand 909 dollars in what’s been called “miscommunication” and an “unintentional mistake.”

Newly-elected vice president Randell Krueger said that no procedures have been put in place yet to prevent a repeat of that problem, but he says a plan is forthcoming to provide what he calls, “greater monitoring, and to assure that it doesn’t happen again.” Krueger said that the Board is very sensitive to the issue, and to the public who want this corrected.

The former board and Geegan claim to have reached a payback agreement. The details of that agreement are unclear.

Also at that organizational meeting, Marlene Stueland was elected new School Board president replacing long-serving Tim Deets. Pete Mancl was elected Treasurer, and Mark Critelli will serve as the board’s new Clerk.
