MERRILL, Wis (WSAU) The Lincoln County Humane Society will be making emergency repairs to its animal shelter. They failed a building inspection, and are not up to code. The problem is their kennels are too small under Wisconsin's anti-puppy mill law. They'll have to be replaced and enlarged.
Now they need to find temporary homes for about 10 dogs and 40 cats while repairs are underway. Foster families would have the animals for about a week in late June into July.
Anyone who'd like to help can call 715-536-3459.
Once the work is done, they'll be less room for strays. The humane society will be able to take in 3 or 4 fewer dogs, and will need to increase their pet-adoption efforts.
