MADISON, WI (WTAQ) - A summit will be held in Madison this month to determine how to carry out Wisconsin’s first statewide plan to control invasive species.

The Wisconsin Invasive Species Council is urging leaders from government, education, business, and non-profit groups to attend a meeting on May 23rd.

The goal is to come up with ways to implement a plan that’s been drafted over the last two years.

Among other things, it calls for the increased reporting of invasive species, creating more extensive maps of where they’re located, and ways to control those species.

The state council is made up of leaders from state government, businesses, conservation groups, and the UW System.
