STEVENS POINT, WI (WSAU) - Plans to refill a Stevens Point pond after nearly two years are on hold. As McDill Pond was starting to fill up again, an area resident questioned whether the pond could be filled without a federal permit because of the nesting waterfowl on the dry lakebed.
Village of Whiting officials are now waiting to hear from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to find out if a permit is necessary to fill the pond. It’s unknown how long that process will take.
