Marshfield construction project has Wednesday community meeting

by

MARSHFIELD, WI (WSAU)  -  Marshfield’s biggest street reconstruction project of the summer is scheduled to start on Monday; but before actual work starts on the reconstruction of South Chestnut Avenue, an informational meeting is set for 5:00 Wednesday afternoon at Marshfield City Hall.

City engineer Tom Turchi says both residents and business owners may want to attend to learn how to deal with the summer-long project.  According to Turchi, “Wednesday night’s public informational meeting is going to start with the contractor basically going through his construction schedule.

This project has been divided into several phases, and he’s got a tentative schedule for those phases. Each of those phases will have different modes of access for businesses and residents along the project. We’ll have a copy of the final plan, and we’ll be going through any questions. Residents can look at those plans as they relate to their specific property or business.”

The contractor on the $3-million dollar, six-month long reconstruction project is A-1 Excavators of Bloomer; and Turchi says the contractor will hold weekly meetings throughout the summer to update the public. South Chestnut Avenue is utilized by more than 3,000 vehicles daily, and is home to the city’s only post office, police station, and numerous other businesses.
