MADISON, Wis. (WSAU) - Governor Walker is taking applications for the now vacant Sheriff's seat in Marathon County.
Walker made that announcement Tuesday prior to his trip to Wausau for a press event. The appointment will fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Sheriff Randy Hoenisch. Anyone selected will begin serving immediately upon appointment through January 5th of 2015.
Walker says all sorts of people are eligible for the position. "We've had sheriff's deputies and police chiefs, people are not limited other than we prefer to have someone with a strong law enforcement background."
An applicant must reside in Marathon County at the time the appointment becomes effective. Applications can be found online at www.walker.wi.gov.
