STRATFORD, WI (WSAU) - The Stratford baby battling leukemia is making a long trip Monday. 11-month-old Treyden Kurtzweil is traveling to Memphis Tennessee today for tests and possible treatment at St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. Parents Cassie and Travis Kurtzweil report they are flying out of Minneapolis Monday afternoon and should arrive at the hospital at around 4:00 p.m.
Treyden has been through several tests and treatments at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield, and University of Wisconsin Hospital in Madison. The testing is necessary before doctors can proceed with a bone marrow transplant. If all goes well with testing, Treyden could be receiving chemotherapy starting April 9th and a bone marrow transplant around April 16th at St. Jude’s.
Several groups have been raising funds to help the family offset expenses. Just last week, several students at Marshfield Columbus High School paid $3 to enter their NCAA Basketball Bracket into the schoolwide tournament, with all of the proceeds going towards Treyden’s fund.
There’s regular updates about Treyden written by his parents on the Saving Treyden Facebook page.
