Rothschild men discover fishing can be cold, wet, and expensive

MERRILL, WI (WSAU) -  Two men from Rothschild were assisted Saturday morning after falling through the ice on the Prairie River north of Merrill. Lincoln County authorities received a 9-1-1 call from an observer who saw a man go through the ice. The man was able to get out of the water with the help of his friend, but they had trouble getting out of the nearby woods.

The Lincoln County Recreation Patrol Deputy was able to use his snowmobile to ferry the two men out of the woods. Once they were in a safe location, a Warden from the DNR cited one of the men for fishing without a license.
