MARYVALE, AZ (WSAU) Brewers ace Yovani Gallardo looked like he is ready for the season opening with a strong spring training outing against the Cubs Friday. Chicago won the game 4-1, but Gallardo allowed only one unearned run and four hits in five and a third innings.
He has one more spring training appearance before he takes the mound for his fourth opening day starting assignment.
Carlos Villanueva picked up the win for Chicago with six scoreless innings.
Khris Davis accounted for the Brewers only run with a solo home run in the seventh inning. It was his sixth of the spring, but manager Ron Roenicke says Davis still isn’t guarantee a roster spot.
