ST. PAUL, MN (WSAU) - 14th ranked Wisconsin rolled past 8th ranked Minnesota State in the WCHA Tournament in St. Paul, Minnesota Thursday 7-2. The Badgers scored three goals in the first eight minutes to open the game before trading a pair of goals with the Mavericks in the second period.
Goalie Joel Rumpel had 38 saves for the Badgers. Tyler Barnes had two goals and an assist. Jefferson Dahl added a pair of shorthanded goals.
Wisconsin plays in a Friday WCHA Final Five semifinal with top-seeded MacNaughton Cup co-champion St. Cloud State.
The Badgers are now 20-12-7 on the season, giving coach Mike Eaves his third 20-win season.
