GLENDALE, AZ (WSAU) Mike Fiers got roughed up yesterday, as the Milwaukee Brewers lost 8-to-3 to the Chicago White Sox in an exhibition game in Glendale Arizona. Fiers, who’s tentatively the Number-five starter for the Crew this season, gave up seven runs in three innings. He gave up eight hits, including homers to Gordon Beckham and Jeff Keppinger, with a walk and two strikeouts.
Ryan Braun hit an inside-the-park homer, on a ball that hit the top of the center field wall and bounced back in. Donnie Murphy also went yard for the Brewers, who only managed to get three other hits.
Center-fielder Carlos Gomez left in the third inning with tightness in his lower back. Manager Ron Roenicke said Gomez would have kept playing if it was the regular season.
The Brewers’ Cactus League record fell to 9-13-and-2. They’ll play the Chicago Cubs this afternoon, with Yovani Gallardo getting the start for Milwaukee against ex-Brewer Carlos Villanueva.
