8th District Congressman Reid Ribble supporting ex-cop's push for release

WASHINGTON D.C. (WTAQ) - A Wisconsin congressman is going to bat for a Milwaukee area native, who’s a former New Orleans police officer charged with murder in the wake of Hurricane Katrina.

Sherwood House Republican Reid Ribble has asked a federal judge to set a bond for David Warren, who remains in prison after he was granted a new trial last December.

Warren was convicted in 2010 of shooting and killing 31-year-old Henry Glover without justification, in the days after Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans in 2005.

A federal appeals court awarded a new trial, saying he should have been tried separately from four other New Orleans officers charged in Glover’s death.

Warren grew up in the Milwaukee area. He attended Glendale Nicolet High School before moving to Arizona, where he later graduated.

Ribble visited Warren in a prison in South Carolina. The House member told the judge that Warren is, “a law-abiding citizen” and a devoted family man.
