MADISON, WI (WSAU) Wisconsin earned a first-round bye in this week’s Big Ten men’s basketball tournament, in part by winning its regular season finale on a buzzer-beater. Traevon Jackson ran almost the length of the court to hit a three-pointer, which gave the Badgers a 63-to-60 victory at Penn State yesterday.

Later in the day, Indiana won the league’s regular season title outright, edging Michigan by one point. And that gave Wisconsin an extra day off in this week’s Big Ten Tournament. The Badgers earned the Number-four seed, and will play in the quarter-finals on Friday afternoon against either fifth-seeded Michigan or Number-12 Penn State. Those two teams will square off in the first round on Thursday.

Wisconsin finished its regular season at 12-and-6 in the conference and 21-and-10 overall. It was the fourth year in a row that Bo Ryan’s Badgers won 12 league contests.

Jackson led the Badgers with 15 points in yesterday’s win over the Nittany Lions. Jermaine Marshall scored 23 for Penn State, which went only 2-and-16 in the conference and 10-and-20 overall in the regular season.
