MADISON, WI (WSAU) There will be a new champion crowned tomorrow in the state high school girls’ hockey tournament. Last year’s champ, Central Wisconsin Storm, lost to Onalaska 5-to-4 this afternoon in the first two of semi-finals at the Alliant Energy Center in Madison.

Onalaska took a 3-to-2 lead after one period, and hung on from there. The Storm ends its season at 24-1-and-1. Onalaska improves to 23-and-4, and will play either Hayward-Spooner and Milwaukee University in tomorrow afternoon’s title game. There’s only division for girls’ hockey, same as the boys.

The boys’ semi-finals will be played tonight. Verona takes on defending champion Green Bay Notre Dame, and Eau Claire Memorial will then face Superior. Those winners will advance to the boys’ title game tomorrow.
