MARSHFIELD, Wis. (WSAU) -- Marshfield welcomes the “Fur Takers of America National Convention and Rendezvous” for a four-day run in Marshfield starting on Thursday. Marshfield’s Convention and Visitors Bureau director, Matt McClean, says, “We’re expecting about 5 to 8,000 people from all over the country, and even internationally, to come for this event. We’ll be looking at an economic impact of up to a million dollars to the economy here in Marshfield.” Last January Marshfield’s Convention and Visitors Bureau received a matching grant of $10,000 from the Wisconsin Department of Tourism to help with hosting of the event. The event is open to the public, and admission costs $10 for the entire four days. Featured are fur and trapping products, educational exhibits, as well as art and food demonstrations. The rendezvous runs through Sunday at the Central Wisconsin State Fairgrounds, 513 E. 17th Street, Marshfield. A full schedule of events is available at their website.
