Marathon County SWAT runs early morning training in Wausau today

WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAU) - Marathon County SWAT members will be doing their monthly training exercises on First Avenue in Wausau early this morning.

Chief deputy Chad Billeb says SWAT will be doing a simulated entry into a home near the 3M plant in Wausau. "What people can expect is a little bit of a delay in traffic. Officers will be out there to direct traffic and to ensure people that nothing serious is taking place."

Billeb says officers will be using the SWAT team's armored vehicle to breach the front door of a home and run a simulation inside. He stresses that people should know that this is all training and that there is no danger to the public.

The exercise should be over by 9 am.
