STILLWATER, MN (WTAQ) - The Stillwater Lift Bridge between northwest Wisconsin and Minnesota will be closed Wednesday afternoon.
A cable was snapped Sunday night, cutting off boat traffic that normally goes under the bridge on the St. Croix River at Stillwater.
Minnesota’s DOT says the bridge will shut down at noon, and re-open to car and truck traffic by 4 p.m. Besides fixing the cable, crews say they’ll also inspect the lift system.
They hope to re-open the 80-year-old Stillwater bridge to water traffic by the end of this week, weather permitting.
