MADISON, WI (WSAU) - The City of Wausau gained the support of the state Legislature with the passage of Senate Bill 85 in the Assembly Wednesday.
SB85 would allow the city to extend the life of tax incremental district #3 by ten years, and leverage an additional 17-million dollars for downtown riverfront development.
The bill was supported by Senator Jerry Petrowski, Representative John Spiros, and Representative Mandy Wright, who spoke support of the bill on the Assembly floor. (7836)
Wausau officials plan to enhance the value of the vacant and blighted property in the district, including mixed use development providing both housing and commercial space, brownfield site remediation, and public enhancements along the waterfront.
