Large crowd gathers at vigil for Treyden Monday

MARSHFIELD, WI (WSAU) -  A large crowd gathered with candles and prayers on the birthday of a very ill child. Treyden Kurtzweil celebrated his first birthday at St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital in Marshfield, which is one of the hospitals he has spent most of his life in. Treyden has Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia, or ALL, which is a cancer of the white blood cells and bone marrow. It is rarely found in infants.

The crowd of friends, family, and total strangers waved to Treyden and his parents high up in the hospital room window carrying candles and showing their support for the Stratford family.

It was just this past Friday that mom Cassie Kurtzweil passed along the bad news that doctors couldn’t do anything else for their son. The family has been regularly updating the Saving Treyden Facebook page, which has about 21,500 followers.
