Wolf hunt application deadline is a week from Thursday

MADISON, WI (WTAQ) - If you want to go wolf hunting in Wisconsin this fall, apply now if you haven’t already.

The state DNR says the application deadline is a week from Thursday. It costs $10 to apply for a wolf license, and it can be done at the DNR’s Web site, or at license centers at places like sport shops.

The state will issue 2,750 permits for the second annual wolf hunt. It begins on October 15th, and ends in late February unless quotas are reached early once again.

Last year’s inaugural wolf season only ran for two-and-a-half months, ending in late December.

Half of this year’s wolf permits will be issued randomly to those who applied. The rest will be offered in a lottery – and those who don’t get picked will get preference points for future lotteries.
