Sex offender deported

WAUSAU, Wis (WSAU)   A 23-year-old sex offender was deported from the U.S. last week after serving about a year in jail. Daniel Meza was in the Wausau area illegally from Mexico. He was convicted of having sexual contact with a 9-year-old girl.

When Meza was first charged in Marathon County court he fled the area and was caught in Texas.

He could have faced 60-years in prison. He pled guilty as part of a plea bargain and was given credit for more than 300-days in jail since he was captured. Immigration officials picked him up at the end of his sentence and deported him.

Meza was deported once before in April 2012, but snuck back into the U.S.
