Waterloo cheese maker tied to listeria cases in Minn, other states

ST. PAUL, MN (WTAQ) - Health officials are investigating an outbreak of listeria in Minnesota that may be linked to cheese made by a Wisconsin firm.

Officials in the Gopher State said one older adult died, and another was hospitalized with illnesses linked to Les Freres cheese – which is made by Crave Brothers Farmstead Classics of Waterloo.

The company has not commented.

Both people got sick last month, and the AP said there are related cases in at least three other states.

Minnesota officials said tests of cheese samples indicated listeria, and a final confirmation is pending.
