MADISON, Wis. (WSAU) -- The Wausau area 8-year-old that was struck by lightning while riding a dirt bike has gone home from the hospital. Blake Draeger was released from the University of Wisconsin Hospital in Madison Thursday morning.

Blake’s father Chris Draeger told Madison area reporters that the medical team doesn’t believe his son will have any permanent damage to his eyes and ears. Blake’s eardrums were ruptured and he had second degree burns over nearly a third of his body.

Family members say Blake has certainly lived up to his nickname of “Tuffy.” Chris Draeger had to perform CPR to revive Blake before rushing for medical help eight days ago.
