Jail time to be recommended in Hoenisch sentencing

UNDATED (WSAU) The judge overseeing the Kim Hoenisch case has turned down a defense request for a new pre-sentencing report. That's a document that helps the judge determine the appropriate punishment after a defendant has been found guilty. Hoenish has already pled no contest to stealing prescription drugs from former inmates that she supervised as a parole officer.

The Wausau Daily Herald reports that the initial pre-sentencing report calls for substantial jail time. The prosecutor in the case has already said he'll ask for 18-months in jail and two-years of supervised release. The defense will argue for an alternative sentencing program and no jail time.

Hoenish's lawyers argued that the pre-sentencing report is biased because it was prepared by the State Department of Justice, who Hoenisch used to work for.

She's the wife of now-retired Marathon County sheriff Randy Hoenisch. Sentencing is scheduled for August 12.
