UPDATE: Bicycle rider identified, police looking for witnesses

MARSHFIELD, Wis. (WSAU) -- Marshfield Police are inviting anyone that may have seen something related to a fatal bicycle and semi truck crash Tuesday to call them.

The incident on Highway 13-Veteran’s Parkway at East 8th Street shortly after 4:00 p.m. left a 56-year-old Paul R. Weigel of Marshfield dead. Crash investigators are hoping more witnesses come forward to help them conclude their work.

The man on the bicycle came in contact with the truck, but officers would like to know more about what was happening in the moments before the fatal incident.

The man was pronounced dead at St. Joseph’s Hospital a short time later. His name will be released later today.

MARSHFIELD, Wis. (WSAU) -- A Tuesday afternoon traffic crash in Marshfield has left a bicycle rider dead. Marshfield Fire and Rescue staff were called to Highway 13-Veteran’s Parkway at East 8th Street shortly after 4:00 p.m. The 56-year-old Marshfield man on the bicycle came in contact with a semi-tractor trailer.

The man was pronounced dead at St. Joseph’s Hospital a short time later. His name has not yet been released.

Traffic was diverted away from the northbound lanes for several hours while State Patrol and Marshfield Police officials investigated the crash scene.
