MADISON, WI (WTAQ) - The state DNR has a new leader for its popular sturgeon fishing program.

Ryan Koenigs will become the new chief sturgeon biologist on February 9th.

He replaces Ron Bruch, who held the post since 1990. He was recently promoted as the new head of budgeting and communications for the DNR’s fisheries statewide.

Koenigs has been a fisheries’ management technician at Oshkosh since 2009.
