Three dead in rural Arpin house fire Wednesday

ARPIN, WI  (WSAU)  -  Three family members are confirmed dead in a house fire that began early Wednesday morning in the Wood County Town of Sigel.

The blaze was called in to 9-1-1 at around 2:30 a.m.  The home was engulfed in flames when first responders arrived.

Wood County Sheriff Thomas Reichert said the fire out, and the county's fire investigation team is on the scene trying to determine what started the blaze.  He confirms that two adult males and one adult female perished in the fire.  Coroner Garry Kronstedt says the victims are a 79-year-old man, a 72-year-old woman, and their 38-year-old son.

Seven fire departments responded to the scene, along with sheriff’s deputies and members of the Wood County Fire Investigation Task Force.   Sheriff Reichert says they are getting help from the state's Bureau of Criminal Investigation to help determine the cause of the fire, but they believe no suspicious activity is involved.
