Update: Snow Emergency declarations issued, Portage Co. "tow ban" lifted

by

UNDATED  (WSAU)  -  Wednesday's heavy snowfall is prompting some officials to declare a Snow Emergency.  The municipalities have their individual guidelines, but almost always include no parking on public streets or parking lots during a period of time to allow for safe and efficient snow removal.

Here is the list so far for Wednesday, January 30th and Thursday, January 31st:

WISCONSIN RAPIDS:The Snow Emergency will be in effect starting Wednesday January 30, 2013 at 11:00 PM until Thursday January 31, 2013 12:00 PM. Vehicles parked on city streets will be ticked and towed at owner’s expense. All odd/even parking is suspended during the Snow Emergency.

PORTAGE COUNTY TOWING BAN:  Effective January 30, 2013, at 7:00 pm, the temporary towing ban on all roads in the county is over.

Vehicles that became stuck or disabled, and were not an immediate traffic hazard, were ordered to be left where they were from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. for safety concerns.

WSAU will update the list as additional declarations are issued.
