WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAU) - The second weekend of the Badger State Games continues through Central Wisconsin tonight.
This weekend, three events are on the docket. At Granite Peak, it's the start of the alpine skiing event. Archey continues at the Rib Mountain Archery Club, and youth snowmobiling runs at the 525 Arena in Rib Mountain.
Badger State Games director Darien Schaefer says the Alpine Skiing has been moved up a weekend. "We typically held that the third weekend, but we wanted tobe able to get more people out and fit them in for the entire event." Several hundred people are signed up for the slalom and grand slalom events.
Archery continues at the Rib Mountain Archery Club. Schaefer says it was a big turnout last week. "We basically doubled participation last year with 116 athletes."
Youth snowmobiling starts Saturday morning in Rib Mountain. Schaefer says the event has been a bit of a dark horse for the Games. "The kids races at 525 have been medaled events for a number of years, and we're just making sure people are more aware they're part of the games."
