MERRILL, Wis (WSAU)  A 22-year-old Saukville woman is in critical condition after a one vehicle crash early Sunday morning in Lincoln County.

A passing motorist discovered the one car rollover just before 1:00 a.m. on Highway C just west of Highway X in the Town of Schley east of Merrill. The caller reported no one was around the vehicle, but a Deputy arrived and found the driver had been ejected from the vehicle.

Kristie M. Poncek was transported by Merrill EMS to Ministry Good Samaritan Health Center where the Spirit Helicopter was waiting. Poncek was flown to the trauma center at Aspirus Wausau Hospital where she is in critical condition.

Deputies do not know at what time the crash occurred. Investigators say Poncek’s condition worsened with exposure to the sub-zero temperatures. The investigation into the crash continues with assistance from the Wisconsin State Patrol.

In a separate crash, five people were hospitalized when two vehicles collided around 2am Sunday morning on Highway 155 in Vilas County.

Both drivers and three passengers were taken to Howard Young Medical Center. Their names and conditions are not known.

Police say alcohol was a factor in the crash.
